Land Trust Events and Information

Land trusts play a key role in the conservation and protection of all aspects of the Farmington River Watershed. They are dedicated to conserving wildlife and plants, improving and preserving the water quality of the river, providing community access to nature, protecting farmland, and ensuring land is protected and available for future generations.

Colebrook Land Conservancy

With 30 properties and 1453 acres of protected land, the Colebrook Land Conservancy strives to reserve and conserve the special and unique characteristics of Colebrook—rural, historic, and scenic—using accepted land conservation techniques and education in cooperation with the Town, the community, and other groups. Northwoods Land Conservancy

Northwoods Land Conservancy serves the towns of Hartland and Barkhamsted—maintaining the rural character of the area for present and future generations by protecting its diverse natural resources through the conservation and stewardship of significant lands.  Northwoods engages in, and promotes, scientific studies and education regarding natural resources. All properties held or controlled by the North Woods Land Conservancy and the net earnings thereof are used for the benefit of the general public for charitable, educational, recreational, conservation, scientific and historical purposes. New Hartford Land Trust

Canton Land Conservation Trust

With over 23 miles of hiking trails, Canton Land Conservation Trust is focused on acquiring, preserving, and protecting land of scenic, natural, or historic value within the Town of Canton; To maintain this land and its plant and animal life, CLCT uses the best conservation, wildlife habitat, and forestry practices available,  while promoting public awareness, understanding, and enjoyment of the land. Burlington Land Trust

The Burlington Land Trust protects over 400 acres of open land with a mission to acquire, preserve, and protect land of scenic, natural, ecological, or historic value in perpetuity for the benefit of present and future generations. Farmington Land Trust

Avon Land Trust

The Avon Land Trust aims to protect and preserve undeveloped land, while enhancing the town’s environmental, historic, and scenic values. Granby Land Trust

Traprock Ridge Land Conservancy

Traprock Ridge Land Conservancy is a regional land conservancy comprising Bloomfield, East Granby, West Hartford and Windsor. Their mission is to protect open space and promote public appreciation of the natural environment across the region, protecting lands from the ridgeline to the rivers.
